The Bergenfield Mayor and Council call upon their residents to participate in the Memorial Day events to be held on Monday, May 27, 2013. In the morning at the Borough Hall, the Fire Department will conduct their service and inspection at 10:00 am, the Veterans Alliance Service will follow at 11:00 am and the Annual Parade will begin at 2:00 pm, rain or shine.
The Parade will assemble on West Clinton Avenue (near Portland Avenue), turning right on So. Washington Avenue proceeding south, turning right on New Bridge Road proceeding west and passing the reviewing stand at Veterans Memorial Park.
Please join us in remembering those who gave their last full measure of devotion and to recognize those who fought and continue to fight globally.

Bergenfield’s 15th Annual 5K Run/Walk
Bergenfield’s 15th Annual 5K Run/Walk has something for everyone. This event, on Sunday, November 11 at Bergenfield High School, now includes a new race, the Children’s Challenge for youngsters from under four through nine years old. This will be followed by the 1-mile Fun Run for children up to 8th grade and adults; and the 5K Run/Walk. Starting times are Fun Run at 9:15am, and the 5K Run/Walk at 10:30am. Check-in and registration begins at 8:30am.
2012 Summer Bocce League announces awards
Joe Scalora, vice president of the Bergenfield Bocce League, is pleased to announce awards for the Summer Bocce League.
John and Linda Horseman were selected as outstanding wife and husband team. The most improved player award went to Gene Varsalona and the Rookie of the Year honors went to Doug Petro. John Leonessa was recognized for his commitment to expanding the sport of bocce to residents of Bergenfield and Mike Cavilla was given the Dante Abballe good sportsmanship award. At the awards ceremony Joe Civitello was recognized as the best bocce player over the age of 80. Head judge Steven Lastra complimented Ned Kneisler, DPW Director, and the parks department for the excellent condition of the bocce courts.
John Scagliotti, Director of Recreation, has announced the 15th Annual Carlo Cecchino Bocce Tournament will be held at the John A. Aversa Grove on Sunday, October 14. A tree planting ceremony will be held at 10:30 AM in honor of Carlo Cecchino who promoted the sport of bocce during his tenure as a councilman. John A. Aversa Spring Bocce Tournament
John A. Aversa Spring Bocce Tournament at the John A. Aversa Bocce Grove, Memorial Park adjacent to New Bridge Road. The Aversa Tournament is free. Each player is asked to donate two cans of food for the Food Pantry. The Environmental Committee will be presenting the winners of their poster contest on Earth Day, Sunday, April 22nd, 1 p.m. at Coopers Pond. And at 3 p.m., Scouts will be participating in the worldwide movement to clean our environment and have volunteered to clean up at the pond.
Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade on Sunday, March 11
The 31st Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade sponsored by the Bergen County Council of Irish Associations will be held on Sunday, March 11, 2012 at 2 p.m. The parade will begin at South Washington Avenue on Englewood Avenue and proceed north along Washington Avenue to St. John's R. C. Church.
8th Annual Bergenfield Film Festival on May 3
The 8th Annual Bergenfield Film Festival, which celebrates independent and mainstream cinema, will take place on Thursday, May 3, beginning at 6:30 pm at Clearview Cinema 5 Theater, Bergenfield.

Bergenfield's annual Holiday Party and Tree Lighting will take place on Sunday, December 11, 2011, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Cooperas Pond.
